Here’s how you can show Utah some love and make a real difference throughout our beautiful communities.

As a member of the Jazz Green Team, I pledge to:

Turn off lights I’m not using. (Save an average of 150 kWh per month) Artificial lighting makes up 15% of your electrical bill. Pay particular attention to high-traffic areas such as hallways, stairways or garages.

Use fans to keep occupied rooms cool. (Save an average of 900 kWh per month) 25% of national summer energy usage is from air conditioning. Circulating air feels 5-8 degrees cooler and costs a fraction of A/C.

Switch out at least five of my regular bulbs with CFL bulbs. (Save 25 kWh per month) CFL bulbs use 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs.

Wash my laundry in cold water. (Save 85 kWh per month) About 75% of the energy used for washing clothes is for heating the water. Most laundry detergents are formulated to get clothes just as clean in cold water.
